Sony Vaio C1 in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001)

The VAIO is an integral part of an intelligent combat robot that Lara uses to hone her tomb-raiding skills.

Importance: ***
Realism: **
This is a bit more than a Sony Aibo and, assuming it was technically possible, it would take more computing power than the C1 can offer.

i had a vaio c1 until 2003 when its colour started peeling and parts of the keyboard key began to lift off. thus i sold it. it was an ambitious machine for whom the technology they intended it for was not available at the time. it was abnormally slow even for sony's overpriced equipment and it was the reason i stopped buying sony stuff altogether. basically it looked good but was not dependable for real computing. it would certainly not have been able to power a combat robot nor was its processor strong enough to provide realtime data analysis for any kind of engineering.

I always looked at it more as an interface to the droid's internal systems. symilar to what you see on servers today, basically not more than a keyboard, screen and in her case also a memory stick adapter for her playlist.
